Building and scaling a design system

Creating a simple cohesive design system

Project Overview

Seeing the lack of parity between the designs and the actual code, it was high time for a concrete design system.

Redefining User types for Improved Onboarding

Qwoted aims to connect the media with the sources they need, by allowing users to pitch themselves as experts for articles, podcasts, and interviews.

Qwoted wanted to update their sign up, as users were confused about account types and Media relations and Customer experience were spending a lot of manual time chasing after users to finish/ correct their profiles.

From late 2021- 2022, I evaluated and designed improvements to their sign up flow.

The brief - Identify how the current sign up flow can be improved, to help drive sign up conversion and create a frictionless first experience into the product.

Team - CEO, CMO, Media Relations, Customer Relations, engineers, UX (myself)

It was unclear what type of account a user wanted to sign up for.

The language/setup of the sign up flow had been placing users into the wrong category of accounts, requiring backend fixing/ 1:1 consults with CX. There has also historically been a vetting process, that takes time, and removes users from a continuous onboarding journey. Leadership wanted to remove this and allow for auto approval, then verification after the user account was made.
